Market love, wishes...and my Shop update

My love of Markets, Garage Sales and Op shops is a recent thing. It has always been there, just didn't want to recognise it til now. My Mum would drag us along to all sorts of moth ball smelling places, where we would think "this is all crap Mum, why are we here"?....
but, Mum would always come away with some piece of furniture, fabric, vase etc, and turn it into a gem something we would all fight over now as homeowners ourselves. So now we all have this zany gene from Mum to 'sniff a bargain' from a mile away. I am working on some now as you know. My $5.00 sideboard is turning out really well and I will show you photos very soon, then there is the two old suitcases I picked up for $3.00 (I haven't done anything to them yet). So I wanted to show you what you can find if you look. Hence the photo above.
This is a market (I think) in Norway or somewhere you could imagine a beauty like this to be found. I haven't posted these two images for the market, but for myself as a reminder that this is what I would like my Shop to look like...whenever that may be. Lots of tables, heights and treasures to make your eyes dart about...to draw you in so you will find a little gem you just have to have.

This is the epitome of what I would like my Shop to be styled like. The whole setting, colours, smells (I bet) and items is just what I have envisioned for ages...I nearly died when i seen these photos - someone had been in my head!!...

...back to reality. This is what my Shop looks like at the moment!!! This is the back wall, and right over the back of the photo is the storeroom door.

This is the front window of the Shop and the door which is yet to be replaced. It is the dumping ground for the adjoining Cafe which is being built (which my Sister may takeover). The Shop has looked like this for a year....when will I ever get it?? Cry with me people.
Just keep the top images in mind!

  7. Your shop is going to be exquisite. You have fabulous taste. I so understand your impatience but unfortunately I have no wise words of advice as I too am yearning (and moping)and not coping that well. Hang in there... I've never been to Tassie but I will have one very good reason to come down, when you open your shop! A-M xx

  8. When I look at the images of your shop, I see great potential! You inspirational images are (as always) light and beautiful. You have to do it, Ness!
I'm having such a great time with my shop. My favorite part of owning the store is the hunt for the perfect little treasures. I love adding one of kind pieces that I find at the flea markets around town. Ness, you are going to love it too!

  11. Thanks for your inspiring comments.
Vanya- I actually love that door, but as the Building is Heritage listed, I have no say about what goes in its place. The new door is slightly similar.
Brooke, I will have a look at your challenge.
A-M, you poor petal. I can only imagine your frustration waiting for your house. I was bad when we built...and ours was done in 14 weeks!!
