My Chaise...

Last week I told you about the Chaise I bought from the local Second Hand Dealer for a song...here it is in its old glory below.

I seen it under a cover on the dealers veranda and watched until he put it in the shop. I love the carved detail (top photo) and little turned legs.
I made a ticking old style mattress for it, which was very simple.

And now it is in our bedroom. As you can see I cut the foam in here...it was all over the floor! I still have to make a bolster pillow for it and some grain sack cushions....

and I have just bought this lovely Amy Butler fabric to make some covers for it too. I want it to have a pop of colour on it which I think will look nice with the burlap grain sacks.
I am so happy to have this Chaise...and it was only $50.00!!!

  5. Hi Ness, love the lounge. Nick and I often pop over to see your blog. That antique dealer has some great deals when he goes to evandale Market, I can't believe the price he sells things for! I bought a gorgeous little draw off him for my office - a bargain 10 dollars..
love the blog, you inspire me to continue developing our little house..

  6. Very nice Ness! I wish I could sew like that. I still remember year 7 sewing class where I spent most of my time racing the person next to me on the foot pedal thingy!! The best I can muster is a small doll I recently made for a pressie...if only I had of paid more attention in that class..hee hee :)Hey I have that AB fabric in the same colour swatch too only I stretched it over a small canvas for hanging in a bookshelf. Watch out for it in some of my 'coming soon' pieces too ;)

  7. Great bargain, Ness! And that's my favourite Amy Butler fabric - I sewed simple curtains for my farmhouse bathroom with it, and have a farmhouse skirt made from it with vintage lace trim from A Bushel and a Peck.

  8. Amazing - that is true treasure Ness. Wish you were here to help me with mine - not quite as pretty as yours because it is bamboo and for the garden but I want to load up on the pillows too, xv.

When are you going to open. I am dying to do a feature on your store.
The canvas sounds great. Hey I remember yr 7 sewing too with Ms Middlebrough(?) I couldnt sew a straight line, but as wth most things it seems I get better on my own...can't do the whole Teacher thing...remember Art!

  27. Hi there - I'm being busted here. I'm spending a lazy Sunday morning curled up on the sofa reading through some of your older posts. Thanks for the great reading material :-).

For some reason I didn't notice the Amy Butler fabric before. Do you know what the name of the pattern is? I haven't seen it before and I really like it.

    Thanks, AnNicole
