Drawers, drawers and kitchen wishes.

arcobaleno
Drawers, just this have always been high on my list of kitchen wants. I would love to have a bank of them next to our refrigerator here in the corner near where the wings on the wall are.
living etc
But, then I see old cupboards like this and the farmhouse look really appeals to me. Worn wooden benches, loads of white washed paint finishes and

arcobaleno
...loads and loads of white ironstone. From bone white to china white and all of the lovely tones in between. This photo is lovely, because it has the little drawers as well.
I cant really complain about our old kitchen, it does have loads of storage...I would just prefer the prettier kind.

...like this.

unknown...sorry.
Then to top it all off, having a bank of folding French doors and an amazing view to the garden, or possibly the ocean, or a quaint country side would just be heaven!

That's my first thought: I see myself there :)

But the kitchen (picture) is perfect and I see myself at the table with a cup of cappuccino, same cakes and my laptop...

  5. Ness I think your kitchen is practical in the way you say you have loads of storage, but you know what I would do. I would put lining boards or that similiar wallpaper on the faces of all your kitchen cupboard - to bring the country into your kitchen.
Then I would add some vintage hardware. I would even look at changing your dining table to a round one. Here's me giving you all this imput that you probably dont need.

  15. Hi Ness,

Well I'm dragging my feet with the comments department. Yesterday's post, I went over and read your interview which I thought was great! Well done.....an Aussie store WOW, sounds like you have given a lot of thought to this and I'm sure it will be fabulous to have a few different things at the two stores. Straightening my nurses hat here and hope that you still find some time for yourself as well. So glad that you are feeling better. Today's post with the kitchen drawers, these images are such eye candy....I love them all. The last one, wouldn't it be nice to have those french bi-fold doors to open up like that (sigh). Actually, any french door would suit me fine....don't think the bi-folds would work here though. The farm dam is close by and we get a zillion mozzies, could you imagine??? We have invested in mozzie zappers before but within a year they give up the ghost, they zap all day and all night long and smoke actually comes off the zapper, no kidding, no wonder they don't last long....do 2 years of zapping within 6 months here i reckon. Anyway, enjoy the rest of your week. I seem to have missed a day with the long weekend!!
    Take care

Loads of ironstone on open shelves, framed by a multitude of drawers--- arcobaleno has such exquisite images! That is my dream kitchen. Ness, I love the old table in the middle of your kitchen and your chandelier. They up the farmhouse vibe quite a bit.

  19. Ah to dream. My dreams are quite similar to yours. Your kitchen (and your whole house) is fabulous as is. I have a small, older home and the only pretty thing about my kitchen is the white cupboards. Room for a shabby old cupboard with open shelves to display rows and rows of white ironstone would be just the ticket!
