Perfectly Complicated!

I know the set from any of Nancy Meyer's films have been blogged about many times over, but I am just smitten by the design of The Bakery, which is the store owned by Meryl Streep's character Jane.
I have drawn so many versions of my dream store from this set design which was created by Meyers, Production Designer Jon Hutman and of course the uber talented Set Designer, Beth Rubino who has worked on many of Meyers' masterpieces. Maybe this is why I fell in love with this set in an instant. Beth is amazing!
Could you just imagine your local greengrocer/bakery to be this chic and perfect?
Oh, I wish!
To see more amazing shots from this movie and many of the other gorgeous Nancy Meyers films just visit Cote De Texas. Joni has really gone into extraordinary detail with loads of info and mouth watering, overly inspiring images.

  3. Hi Ness,

The kids (and hubby) bought the dvd of It's Complicated for mothers day and we watched it in the school holidays. I'm with you I totally fell in love with all the sets and couldn't get enough of the spanish house, to die for!!!! My eyes were in overdrive to try and take it all in...I will have to make time to watch it again. Hope you are not being washed away tonight as it is absolutely pouring with rain here. Whatever you have planned, I hope you have a really great weekend.
    Take care

  5. That's I hate in Uruguay. The most shops look dull. Or untidy...

    Have a nice weekend

  7. You know, I think the real stars of any Nancy Meyer film are the sets - they steal the show every time. I remember the first time I saw 'Something's Gotta Give', I didn't even follow the story, I was so in love with that house! Absolutely perfect in every way. And if you every open a shop that looks like this bakery, I'll gladly make a special trip to Tassie just to visit! K xx

  8. Hi Ness, I love it! I haven't seen the movie, but have heard all good things about it, now I see another good reason... I am always drooling over her sets, this one will be no different! I would love to shop there, it would be such a relaxing experience, not cold and harsh like the regular shops...

  9. Since you asked, "YES! -- I HAVE fantasized that our local bakery was so uber wonderful, and I've suppressed the urge to send them photos and implore them to get inspired!" How about Meryl's kitchen garden? Do we not want that, as well? What a terrific movie. How sexy and funny!
