My long love of soapstone started while watching Ms Stewart many, many years ago and ever since I have coveted this wonderful material and wanted kitchen benches made from it.
Not only does it looks fabulous, it gets even better with age.
...maybe I could have a soapstone butlers sink too?!
Either way - I love it!

It does look beautiful in that gorgeous laundry. It is a dream of a room

This is just a wonderful laundry room... Not all laundry rooms are inviting but this one certainly is....
ReplyDeletegreat room, almost makes you want to do laundry... :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great space. I love the angled front on the apron sink. Its an unusual detail that really works!
ReplyDeleteI love soapstone too but when we had our kitchen built a few years ago no-one had heard of it. We ended up having honed granite which has a similar look but no-one had heard of that either and when we explained that we wanted the shine taken off granite they thought we had gone mad! Like soapstone though it does get better with age. Love the room in your pic.

I love soapstone, but everyone tells me it is too hard to take care of. I love that sink.

ReplyDeleteAlways luv soapstone! What a great sink and the rug on the floor is nice too!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it beautiful? So much prettier than granite.
ReplyDeleteI love red! so pretty...as an accent color. Thanks for sharing

Loving that Laundry! The Rocking Horse is gorgeous.. would love my laundry to look like that : )
ReplyDeleteYes, I have soap stone love too. When my kitchen was re-done I wouldn't settle for anything less. You can see them on my blog under "kitchen".
ReplyDeleteOhhh...such gorgeousness!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Ness,
ReplyDeleteLove the picture showing soapstone at it's best!! Wouldn't you say that it is not used here much and it seems to be quite popular in America? Do you know what it is made out of exactly??? I have known people to put in cement benchtops and heard someone else say that the edges can chip away!! So I don't really know, I think every surface has it's pro's and con's. Will call in again later...
Take care

H o l a ! I, too, share the soapstone love! Nice kitchen! Groovy sink!
ReplyDeleteOops -- nice laundry, not kitchen. My bad. HA! @ the countertop personnel's not knowing about soapstone or honed granite, for that matter! Built, been there, done that! When I inquired about loose-fitting slipcovers recently, the gal at the store had NO idea what I meant! ??? Is she not addicted to decorating blogs? HA!
ReplyDeleteOh soapstone is just stunning, Im planing it for my next kitchen (which is aaages away) finding it may be an issue though as know one seems to know what it is, even my partner thinks I made it up lol.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous material! You're onto something with the bench idea...that would be heavenly.
ReplyDeleteLove, love your photos and enjoy viewing your blog!
ReplyDeleteHappy blogging!
