After a little flick through the vintage copy of Rob Roy I nabbed a few weeks ago, I came across this quote
"Believe it truly"
I thought it was lovely and seeing as though I had the guts to show you all a snippet of my art work, and have finally come to the realisation that I have a God given gift,
I thought this quote was brilliant....
so I put it on a dish!
I made a few actually.
They are firsts...they are not perfect
...but I love them.
the undersides have wonderful, vintage doilies, linens etc to give them texture
and some are simple.
Like the Rob Roy plate with it's little rose.
simple
Some have detailed textures to the stoneware grey.
...and together they work wonderfully
This plate/bowl/dish range is in it's early stages.
I am fiddling about with designs etc at the moment, but rest assured
they will be for sale soon
...but as 'Market Exclusives'
If you happen to be in Sydney on Saturday, March 10th, then you will be first to be able to get some
Marley & Lockyer stoneware bowls at the
I will be doing custom orders from this range also, so if you are interested, then contact me at marleyandlockyer@gmail.com
I would love to hear your thoughts.

Oh, I love these! Would you sell them as a set? Love the touch of blue... or black in the rose (i cant tell from the pic) !!
ReplyDeleteI am thinking of doing 'nesting sets' as well as singles, but they will be available only through custom orders or at the design markets at the moment. The rose one is black. I do have china blue and some others as well.

Bottoms should be pretty too ;0) I often look at the undersides of plates etc first to see if the maker has a nice stamp etc. If there is, thats enough for me to buy, even if the top is plain....that is weird now I think of it!

Beautiful, really beautiful Ness x
ReplyDeleteLove the simplicity, they would match any decor & make amazing gifts, if people can possibly part with them. Good luck at the market, love Posie
ReplyDeleteIm actually finding the parting thing hard too! Each one I make I want to keep...which is not really a good thing.

ReplyDeleteActually Ness, they are perfect - in the way in which a beautiful hand made piece is always perfectly imperfect, and this is exactly how they should be. They're gorgeous and you really must take that wonderful quote on board. It too is perfect! Amanda x
