Tidying up my files today I realised how many photos of Kitchens I have. For a reason though, to inspire our own re-do, which will be a makeover to begin with and eventually a gut. My favourites are as follows. The top one is just gorgeous in every way.

This little gem I found over at ABT and fell in love with the island and the beaded board on the cupboards, the hardware and the marble.

3 Bell Jar lights sounds good to me. I love that the island is dark against white cupboards. This is a perfect solution for us as Mic wants wood cabinetry, and I want white.

I did notice that most of the photos I have on file have 3 lights above the island. I have always been a fan of this, not only for the aesthetics, but for the difference it makes when you are doing any sort of fiddly prep. We had 3 white glass shades above our main prep area at the home we built and I loved it. This kitchen is magnificent and the turned legs over the breakfast bar are gorgeous.

I love this. Simple, white, clean and uncluttered. I have a 'thing' about not having stuff on the benches...except my big glass canisters I have shown you before.

The Aga in the old fireplace is something we would love to eventually do in our kitchen (with a electric/gas version), but I don't think I can part with our old wood stove...it's so cozy.

A must!!!

I would love to incorporate a breakfast bar. The tin on this ceiling is beautiful.

The thought of having an old farmhouse table to do double duty as dining space and as an island really appeals to me, but it just wouldn't work for us just now. The mouldings on the doors are lovely and I would really like to do something with the baseboards like this to give a touch of fancy to them...the more I think, the more my head hurts...time to go to bed.

To see my other kitchen posts, see my labels at the right.
I am also about to do my kitchen and posted this last picture on my blog post on kitchens too! Great taste, lol! So many choices to make and so much inspiration out there. Look forward to seeing the final product!
ReplyDeleteThose dark, shiny floors are stunning. I would also love the tin on the ceiling! Gorgeous picks.
ReplyDeleteWonderful inspiration photos! I can see why your head hurts...there are so many great details to consider! And I love the idea of a dark wood island with white cabinets. Sounds like a good compromise to me.
ReplyDeleteLove these! I too have a lot of kitchen files- most of them white as well. I think it is my not-quite subconscious yearning for a white kitchen.

ReplyDeleteI LOVE all of these. We are getting new counter tops this year. What counters did you decide to do in your kitchen?
XO's

WOW
ReplyDeleteWOW
WOW
I'm not sure which I like the best.
I see you are a painted cabinets person! I am too. I love the look. Great inspiration photos!
ReplyDeleteSo many lovely features in these kitchens Ness but my favourite would be the metal domes hanging on the wall under the tin ceiling! Fabulous! Tracey xx
ReplyDeletethanks for cleaning out the files.
ReplyDeletegreat kitchens.

Image two just grabbed & refused to let go. Perhaps its the furniture stylisland, the bell jar lamps & the marble...but I'm home.
ReplyDeleteGood luck Ness. Kitchens I believe are 100 times more difficult. Can't move the cabinets around or slipcover...darn it.
They are all gorgeous. I have to say that our kitchen is one room I am happy with in our house as we recently renovated. I got my white cupboards with glass, the black and white checked floor, my vintage pink chandelier and kept my old Kooka in the corner. Sadly, the space is only tiny but at least I love everything in it!
ReplyDeleteOh I love those butler sinks ... but hear they are a nightmare to wash your crockery in!
ReplyDeleteHave you thought about what color you want to do your new kitchen in yet?... just kidding. Great inspirational photos.
ReplyDeleteLove the island in the 1st pic and the long dark one in the next one especially with the marble tops. Also, love the old table and the chairs in the last pic. Great photos! So many choices!

I have a ridiculous kitchen folder of pictures saved on my desktop, I need to clean it out. I have a couple of these same images saved, so I have to say that you have pretty good taste! :)
ReplyDeleteJanet,
ReplyDeleteI would love to have soapstone, but trying to get it here is a hassle, so I am leaning towards Ceaser Stone for the main ones and maybe reclaimed wood for the island...who knows at this stage!

Josephine,
ReplyDeleteYou are so lucky to love your kitchen. Just about every one I know hates their one. I would love to say I love mine...soon!

Alex,
ReplyDeleteI don't actually know anyone with a Belfast sink. Why are they bad to use? They look so deep and lovely.

Thanks Aura,
ReplyDeleteYou must have too!!! =0
