A Great Designer...Sarah Richardson

Loving this room from one of my favourite designers, Sarah Richardson. The stone fire place is just stunning, and the lime washed beaded board looks great against the honey coloured wood flooring...but my favourite thing in this room is the pairing of the wing back and the dining chairs. i know this is not a new thing to do, but I just love it and the ones here just go so well with this beach cottage feel.
The view up the hallway catches the gorgeous stone on the surround and the huge sailing boat is such a just piece...a little story to remind you that you are by the sea.
This room is so different to the top two and that is one of things I like about Sarah, her style is very classic and stylish, but she can switch it up to cover just about anything. Sarah's range of furniture is ever evolving and her chaise, shown here, is one piece I could definitely have in our home.

Here is another angle from the room above. Loving the armchairs.

  1. Sarah Richardson does some really beautiful work! Did you know that she doesn't like to put tall pieces of furniture in rooms because she felt like one was going to topple over onto her once? She wouldn't like my house!

ps The wing chairs at the table are just lovely.

  3. Hi Ness,

Until I started to read your blog I never knew Sarah Richardson, but from what I can see from the stories and pictures that I have seen of her work, I can honestly say I am a fan. I agree, her work is classical and she seems very diverse with the interiors that she creates. Today I am loving the first two pictures. I have seen the look of wing-backed chairs with dining room chairs before and am crazy for that look. I am completely nutty for wing-backed chairs anyway. They would have to be one of my favourite pieces of furniture of all time and if I could I would have a wing-backed chair in every room of my house! LOVE, LOVE them...I'm trying to do some filing and look at blogs at the same time, but blogs are winning out right now, better get back to it. Have a great day tomorrow.
    Take care

  4. I love her work and her furniture designs. We used to get her TV show in the states but now it's hard to get a hold of. Years ago I was in Toronto for the Interior Design Show and she was there answering questions for those in line. Can you believe I was too nervous to ask her a question!!

  6. Sarah has a great eye for what works...and has really grown and stretched over the years. I was reading about her in a recent "Hello" magazine -- it featured her cottage and I was just blown away by how she did that as well.

  17. Michelle,
Can you share the name of that fabric? I can think of a chair at my house that could do with some.
    Thanks,
